Actor Chris Pratt and author wife Katherine Schwarzenegger have apparently decided on a respite in mid-coast California to close out the summer. According to The Daily Mail, the property they chose is located in quiet and affluent Carpinteria, a popular destination for celebrities due to its location — off the beaten path but not terribly far from Los Angeles — and its extraordinary natural beauty.

According to the listing for the beachfront home, the rent is $70K per month. The house went up in 1959. It’s a modern-meets-traditional beach house with abundant glass on its ocean side, and two levels, with the upstairs dedicated to the master; views from this nest-like upper alcove take in a meditative panorama of the Channel Islands and Padaro Cove.

The interiors of the six-bedroom, seven-bath house show off some fine examples of craftsmanship; this is a beachfront rustic with a refined veneer, and the teak herringbone-pattern floors that run throughout the home — baths excluded, of course — speak volumes about the living style.
