Bulgari’s Serpenti series remains one of the company’s most enduring design families, and this summer the Swiss firm announced four new members. And the quartet of new watches includes a model with a tourbillon movement.
Snake jewelry, including bracelets inspired by the serpent, has been around for thousands of years, but in the modern age gained traction in the Victorian era. The first example of Bulgari’s Serpenti series emerged in the immediate postwar period. The act of wearing one is as much an alignment with a historical narrative as it is a matter of self-expression.
Unlike the Misteriosi, a Serpenti entry revealed earlier this year, the snake form in the new models has reverted back to a snake’s head-shaped case. Included in the new Serpenti watches are the Spiga Ceramic ($16,800), a diamond-rimmed Seduttori ($11,600) and a less pricey version without diamonds ($7,250), and the Seduttori Tourbillon ($185,000).
Bulgari’s newest Serpenti watches will soon be slithering into a boutique near you.
