The Manhattan condo of pop star Janet Jackson came to the open market this year and departed again relatively quickly. The property appeared for sale in April with an asking price of $8.995 million; it closed at $8.8 million in the final days of July, according to public records.
At the time of sale, the corner unit contains two bedrooms and four baths — including a powder room — across 2,094 sq. ft. of interior living space. The Central Park views are among its more striking features, and floor-to-ceiling glass in its living areas and bedrooms feature bird’s-eye views of the sylvan Manhattan centerpiece.
The residence’s layout has converted a bedroom into a library, or small office; the floor plan has a third bedroom beside the master. Other spaces include a lengthy entrance gallery, an L-shaped living and dining room, and a closed kitchen accessible from opposing ends of the living space through a pair of butler’s doors.
Strictly visible details in the home include the millwork in the converted library, and a host of beige and dark warm tones; the living and dining space was sold with off-white walls and ceilings for reflected light, as it ends with a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass. Floors are mid-toned oak plank.
Jackson’s long career has included five Grammy wins, as well as an Academy Award nod for her contribution to the soundtrack of 1993’s Poetic Justice.
