Adrián González Seeking $14.9M in La Jolla After Price Cut

In the late spring of this year, retired MLB talent Adrián González listed this sprawling East Coast-inspired San Diego-area mansion for sale. The five-time All-Star initially offered the property at $16.5 million. But with no serious bites, a price snip became a well-advised measure, and after a few months of market stasis the seven-bedroom, ten-bath mansion is back with a $14.9 million ask.

The 2010-built home sits on a .5-acre lot in La Jolla’s Muirlands community. Its exterior is an aggregate of stylistic elements borrowed from Cape, Farmhouse and Colonial architecture. From the gated drive, the front walk ends at a dramatic recessed entrance: barrel ceiling, support posts with shingled bases, raised flagstone landing, and a single front door partially framed by sidelights and a transom.

In back, the house blossoms into a three-level leviathan with a stone-clad first floor and a wealth of terrace space accessible by way of dual outdoor staircases which rise up from a flagstone pool area. Highlights of the interiors include the easygoing semi-rotunda kitchen, which presents panoramic views of the waterfront, and is connected to the formal dining room with a wine-storage butler’s pantry.

The master suite is a positive monster, although the bedroom comes off as quite cozy; the bathroom, dressing room and closet space sprawls out from it, occasionally illuminated by an oval, multi-pane window. An elevator, a theater with stadium seating, and wine cellar with tasting room are the icing on the cake.
