Singer and actress Vanessa Hudgens is the new owner of a new build in Studio City. The High School Musical franchise star paid $7.45 million for the modern farmhouse, which replaced a 1963-vintage Mediterranean. The property closed in the early days of summer.

The shared living spaces in this house show off an understated and somewhat cerebral warmth. There’s a fair amount of wood grain on display, and the generally open common area features a freestanding hardwood accent wall decorated with a relief of geometric shapes; an unusual flourish that may or may not age well.

Other elements at work in the interiors: steel-framed doors and windows — including multiple sets of French doors — white oak plank floors, skylights, and an atmospherically-lit staircase that rises to a second-floor plateau living area. The owner’s suite features large walk-in closet spaces; a gym and sauna are two of the home’s lifestyle amenities. An infinity-edge pool is the centerpiece of the 1.27-acre lot.
