Sergey Grishin, a Russian-born billionaire businessman, hefted his high-rise condo residence in Los Angeles onto the open market late last summer. Grishin was hoping for $21 million for the Roberto Cavalli-designed villa in the sky; no dice, and so back to the open market goes the property this summer, with a price snip that takes its ask down to a more attractive $17.9 million.
The single-level penthouse unit is located in the Century building — where else? — and contains a pair of bedroom suites, and another couple of baths besides. The cohesive look of the interiors partly comes down to the lovely parquet mahogany floors that are used throughout the unit, bathrooms and dressing rooms/walk-in closets notwithstanding. There’s a fine touch to the inlay, and just a touch of satin in the finish. Book-matched slab stone is another prominent decorative feature of the home.
The great room, lined in glass and offering knee-buckling panoramic views of L.A. environs, boasts a unique installation: a crystal-like onyx bar atmospherically lit from within; the lighting style isn’t unique, but the shape is. A library and a pair of terraces, one with a fire pit, complete a sketch of a ready-to-wear designer pad in the starry Los Angeles firmament.
