It took about nine months, but Neil Patrick Harris succeeded this spring in finding a buyer for his detail-rich townhouse in Manhattan.
The actor put the carefully restored residence up for sale in the high summer of last year, asking $7.325 million. The listing price did not change during the property’s nearly year-long run on the open market, and the place ultimately found a buyer at over $6.995 million, according to The Real Deal, and is in contract.
The residence’s 8,000 sq. ft. are distributed across five levels. Harris engaged in a careful design process, developing the property as a romantic revision of its original living style.
Enhancements are present, and include the bar, which was reclaimed from a demolished hotel of roughly the same era. Other notable details include the wood paneling—with a row of dentils, no less—as well as milled plaster ornament, carved wood window frames and crown moldings, and oak plank. More up-to-date touches include the landscaped rooftop deck and Japanese-style bathtub.
Harris’ recent property acquisitions include another New York property: a Long Island estate that ran the actor $5.5 million. The property, at one time the home of Grove Press owner Barney Rosset, includes a 5,500 sq. ft. shingle style on a 13-acre parcel of Hamptons grandeur.
