With a new lakeside lodge in the Peach State beckoning, ex-Atlanta Braves left fielder Chipper Jones has listed his larger home in the Atlanta-area bedroom community of Canton. The retired MLB player paid $3 million for the incoming home; the house in the World Series champ’s outbox is tagged at $15 million.
The new house represents a downsizing for Jones and co., and a change of lifestyle too. A lakeside retreat with a rustic spirit — its interiors may well be lined in Georgia pine — the five-bedroom spans about 6,000 sq. ft.
The house for sale measures in at 23,000, with eight bedrooms and ten baths throughout. There’s a great deal of stone in the build; the home’s lavish design elevates it, creating a plateau for a large, courtyard-like patio. The property’s landscaping features tiered plantings abutting the house, which enhances the effect.
Elsewhere in the architecture, a turret section and a partial rotunda exterior wall off the main living area are design flourishes that generously illuminate sections of the home. The former crowns an interior atrium entry with a grand skylight, while the latter extending as a curving covered deck off the master which overlooks the estate’s back forty. Brick and stone are featured heavily as finishing materials.
The property’s amenities make for a comprehensive list, with a sauna, a theater, a kid’s playroom, a splendid pool recreation area surrounded by numerous covered and uncovered lounging areas and a firepit, equestrian facilities — including an arena — a stocked lake, a boating shed, and trails crisscrossing the 37.81 acres of grounds.
