A meteoric rise does tend to lead to frequent property trade-ins. Marshmello, the DJ and mixmeister born Christopher Comstock, moved from Laurel Canyon to Beverly Hills in 2020, according to Dirt.
This summer, Comstock’s Laurel Canyon home, a five-bedder on a quarter acre, landed on the open market with an asking price of $5.495 million. According to public records, the musician has owned it since 2017.
The 4,852 sq. ft. home’s façade is heavily influenced by Eastern residential architecture, with shoji-inspired garage and front doors, wood accent cladding, and what appears to be a multi-tiered redwood front walk and entry steps. An upper level carbon-sink planting, a raised planter with poured concrete retaining walls and a bit of bamboo completes a sketch of the front of the home.
There’s a lot of wood inside, including ceiling finishing and the chunky solid treads of a floating staircase. Perhaps the most interesting installation is the fireplace accent wall, a freestanding flourish with a double-sided linear unit, raised hardwood hearths on both sides, and a hardwood-surrounded pipe.
The upper level begins with a landing living area with a wet bar — as well as two overlooks — before progressing to the guest accommodations; the second-level master, like the living area, opens broadly to an outdoor space via fold-away glass panels. A pool with a waterfall, a multi-level sun deck, a covered living area with a bar and BBQ, and a strip of lawn conclude a quick survey of this amenable property in the Hollywood Hills artist’s enclave.
Marshmello is immensely popular on YouTube, where he boasts over 55 million subscribers. His tracks have been streamed over 13 billion times on Spotify.
