A California residence owned by hardworking actor Willie Garson appeared on the open market this summer tagged at $1.695 million. According to public records, the house had been a longtime home for the actor. Garson, who passed away last September, picked it up in 2005 for a little over a million.
A single-story 1930-built Spanish-style in Valley Village, the 1,639 sq. ft. house contains many surviving period details, and charms readily. Its front door opens directly into the living room, which is floored in honey-toned oak and features a fireplace and a stained cathedral ceiling with exposed rafters. Stucco outside and in, the home’s interiors feature soft arches and smoothed-over edges and corners.
As the house progresses, a dining room with a beamed ceiling, rose pink walls and French casements comes into view; it is linked to an unpretentious kitchen with black-and-white tile and paint the color of lemongrass.
It contains three bedrooms and three baths, where there are some cool tones at play. The backyard is preceded by a covered porch with multiple sets of casement windows and a door offering yard access; it was apparently used as a creative workspace by Garson.
