Out of Encino and back into Santa Monica is actress Alyson Hannigan.

The American Pie series regular recently put the contemporary she purchased with her husband, fellow actor and Buffy alum Alexis Denisof, up for sale for $18 million after three years of ownership and a superb revision. According to Dirt, she also dropped $6.7 million on a green-minded, 2000-built contemporary in Santa Monica—around $150,000 over ask.

Hannigan has owned in Santa Monica before; in 2002, the How I Met Your Mother star took ownership of a period Mission-style in the seaside city. She put it up for sale in early 2018, selling it for $4.9 million after a few months on the open market.

The pair’s more recent home in Santa Monica contains six bedrooms and five baths across 3,835 sq. ft. and two levels. From the front, the house sports a carbon-sink upper-level planting as a terrace balustrade, while the back opens via a Fleetwood installation to combine the backyard pool and interior living areas.

Listing information has the interiors pegged as ‘minimalist’, but a look at the main living area reveals a design style that’s quite lush, with honey-toned hardwood taking point and a bit of brass and LED backlighting atmospherics offering support. The kitchen is an alcove design, which brings a ceiling break into the space. Concrete floors and an industrial staircase add brutal overtones to the home.

There’s a bit of rusticated stone in the baths; in the master, the material is used to finish the wall behind the freestanding tub, a pleasing visual that adds significant dimension to the room. The master bedroom is glassy and hints at modesty, with a slider opening to a terrace.
