Elite’s Fuoripista may be one of the best-looking piece of gym hardware available. It’s certainly the most provocative; an abstraction of a traditional stationary bike, distilled to its essential elements, it’s a striking addition to a fitness room, and one that’s guaranteed to start a conversation mid-huff.
Turin-based Adriano Design was consulted to help imagine the formal exercise in exercise bikes. As artistic representation is in the eye of the beholder, the bike, which was first revealed as a concept in 2017, could represent a quadruped. Or not. The material choices, however, represent a substantial degree of thought, and the manner in which white ash, glass, glossy steel and leather come together in the unit betrays an unusual degree of craftsmanship for a gym standard.
Tech embedded in the design: a fairly discreet OLED display, and a companion app for navigating progressive exercise coursework. Otherwise, this is as analog as it gets, fostering an aggressive racing stance when in use.
