For 2023, Porsche has a 911 variant that’s designed just for the U.S. market. It’s called the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America, and it comes loaded with a 3.0L flat six biturbo engine that delivers a very satisfying 473 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.

The with-fees sticker of $186,370 and the drop top body style of the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America will likely destine most examples of the variant for the motor courts of California producers (and perhaps Jerry Seinfeld). But the model was designed for track enthusiasts and members of the guild of the heavyfoot, whoever they may be. The history of the ‘America’ special editions can be traced back to a limited edition of the early 1950s, when just 16 of the 356 America Roadster made it out of the factory and into the hands of drivers.

The 911 Carrera GTS America’s styling is the work of Porsche’s Manufaktur customization division, and it does look very smart, right down to its leather-sheathed wheel with red accent stitching. The paint color, Azure Blue 356, is homage to the 16 examples of the Roadster that took to U.S. roads seventy years ago. Porsche’s Active Suspension Management (PASM) is included as standard, as are the Sport Chrono and Exhaust kits.

Expect to see the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America in dealerships in the last quarter of this year.
