With the custom, resort-like estate in Orlando gone to a new buyer — it went to a new owner last fall for $11 million — NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently did a little house-hunting in his home state of Texas and came up with a 5,269 sq. ft. five-bedroom in the DFW suburb of Carrollton. The property had been listed at $1.225 million and is likely an investment.
The 2005-built red brick-clad house begins with an ornate recessed single-door entry, which gives way to a foyer floored in glossy stone tile and illuminated by a second-level window. A formal dining room, hardwood-lined office with marble fireplace and a wall of built-in bookshelves, and a formal master suite dressed up with ornamental columns and chandeliers.
Amenities include a stadium theater. But any Shaq-purchased home wouldn’t be worth its salt without a park-like exterior recreation area, and as the Orlando estate had its ‘Shaq-apulco’ this more modest property in greater Dallas-Fort Worth has an outdoor spot with a nicely designed lagoon-style pool as a centerpiece.
