NBA shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. is the new owner of a Los Angeles getaway pad. Oubre — who currently calls the Charlotte Hornets his professional home — paid $5 million on the nose for the four-bedroom, six-bath contemporary, which is set high into a hillside with Nichols Canyon views.
The house’s exterior mixes modern, industrial, and Eastern design elements into a cool amalgam. Exterior walls are in architectural concrete, and there is a bisecting plane that divides the master wing from the rest of the house. The master bedroom opens onto a private veranda, and that section of the home features a roof design flourish that’s flared upward, suggesting Japanese architecture.
In back, the home opens generously to its outdoor living area through a corner glass wall and a long stretch of what appear to be Fleetwood doors. A pool, spa, and a partially covered BBQ station, fire pit lounge and dining area are highlights of the exterior; indoor details include a kitchen with a very large, marble-capped double waterfall island, as well as grid lighting, a wine wall, a linear fireplace in an accent wall, and wide-plank hardwood.
