Emma Stone Makes Quick Work of Malibu Retreat for Above-Ask $4.4M

The Malibu retreat of Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone sold this month. The property hit the open market under Stone’s tenure last month, priced at $4.295 million; about four weeks later it’s a done deal, with the closing recorded at $4.425 million.

The house is one of many that have sold above ask in the recent past. Included in the list is the 1946 modern of Emily Ratajkowski, the L.A. and Carmel-By-The-Sea properties of Betty White, and the Spanish-style Katherine McPhee sold in April.

Stone’s now-ex house in Malibu is a 1,764 sq. ft. traditional dating to the late 1950s; its 3.15-acre size and bluff location gives it a high-drama appeal with vertigo-inducing views of a more rugged corner of the desirable seaside community. The house is glass-heavy, and interiors have been given a nearly uniform treatment of bright white, lending an ethereal overtone to the living style. Skylights and an open-concept shared space enhance that impression. Outside, a red brick patio overlooks the scenery.

Stone’s other L.A.-area homes include the ebulliently decorated Beverly Hills pad she passed on to a new owner last year for its asking price: $3.9 million.

Stone’s upcoming films include Poor Things, with Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, and Mark Ruffalo.
