Latter-day crooner Clay Aiken has listed his ranch house on 1.24 sylvan acres in North Carolina. The American Idol runner-up and multi-platinum record seller is asking $980K for the retreat, which offers three bedrooms and four baths in 4,277 sq. ft. of interior living space.
A white-painted masonry exterior and steeply-pitched roof describe the home from the driveway side. In back it develops nicely as an expansive indoor/outdoor lifestyle home, with a screened porch and upper patio overlooking a sweeping lawn and a pool and sundeck below. A pergola lounge sits at one end of the pool.
The home’s indoor living areas formally begin with the classic foyer that waits behind a front door capped with a fanlight and flanked by sidelights. They have to some extent been adjusted to taste by its present owner, who has converted the home’s formal dining room into a billiards room. A sunny dayroom and a family room with a fireplace and French doors that open to the property’s outdoor living area are among the other spaces in the home.
The master suite is quite large for the house’s footprint, and features a large bedroom that transitions to a fireplace sitting room, and a bath with a step-up alcove soaking tub.
Aiken’s debut album, 2003’s Measure of a Man, topped the Billboard 200 chart.
