The BMW M4 Competition Sport Lightweight — M4 CSL for short — proved its mettle this spring at the legendary Nürburgring in Germany. The new street-legal performance variant has, according to the automaker, ‘achieved the fastest Nürburgring lap time of any road-ready BMW’. It’s also the lightest road-legal variant in M4 history.
The 2023 M4 CSL is outfitted with BMW’s 3.0L M TwinPower Turbo I6, which pumps out 543 horsepower; meanwhile, weight-saving measures throughout the car drop nearly 250 pounds from the standard M4’s curb weight. The suspension is dropped 8mm for better track performance.
The 2023 M4 CSL also features M Carbon Ceramic Brakes and carbon fiber components, including a hood, front splitter, rear diffuser and trunk lid with ducktail spoiler outside, and M Carbon Full Bucket seats inside. All of which helped an example of the variant to log a 7 minute 20.20 second time at the Nordschleife track.
The 2023 M4 CSL is a limited-edition offering. It is priced from $140,895.
