Sergey Brin, co-founder of a little tech company called Google, ponied up a bit of pocket change for an appealing contemporary in Malibu’s Point Dume area a couple of years ago.

The tech exec’s new pad in the exclusive neighborhood has a unique history: it was, early in the last decade, owned by pop star Pink, who owned it with her husband Carey Hart. The couple bought the place for $12 million in 2010, and put it up for sale at $14 million about five years later. They eventually accepted an offer of $12.5 million for the residence in 2016. The summer of 2020 found the property changing hands again, with Brin paying $13.5 million for the keys, according to Dirt.

The 2005-built home’s architecture voices chalet, modern, and Balinese influences. Details at work in the house include beamed, tongue-and-groove and plank ceilings, fieldstone support columns, series clerestories, and scraped hardwood plank and flagstone floors.

The living areas meander throughout a series of levels, a design style which encourages exploration. Balinese details include carved wood, doors, and ceiling fans in a tropical style. The house contains five bedrooms and seven baths; the master bedroom receives on of the several fieldstone fireplaces in the house. Each is unique, and each anchors the room it is in.

The 6,300 square-footer comes deeded with access to Little Dume Beach and its coveted break.

Pink’s other Malibu real estate dealings of late include a beach house listing. The 3,606 sq. ft. modern, which was custom-built in the 1970s for crooner Barry Manilow, returned to the open market with a $14 million asking price earlier this spring and was scooped up in short order.

Brin’s net worth is around $90 billion, per Forbes; Bloomberg pegs it closer to $100 billion.
