It’s been a year since GM introduced the LYRIQ, its figurehead EV.

The Cadillac model first appeared as a concept in 2020; last spring, a production version followed, with the automaker promising a range of at least 300 miles and a 10-minute quick recharge putting 75 miles in the bank. Its interior, dominated by a 33-inch LED display, presented a compelling vision of pre-autonomy spaciousness. Its powertrain, Cadillac said, would be rated at about 340 horsepower.

A single-motor ‘Debut Edition’ followed in September of last year, with Cadillac reporting a reservation sellout in ten minutes’ time. Jump to spring 2022, and Cadillac is talking first deliveries of the regular production SUEV, which will commence with the 2023 model year, and pricing.

The Lyriq will start at $62,990 in RWD guise, with deliveries beginning in the fall. An AWD version with a 500-horsepower two-motor setup will follow early next year, and base sticker at $64,990.

As an incentive, Cadillac is offering a credit to cover the cost of installing a home charger.
