Maslany, who earned critical acclaim for her work in the Canadian series Orphan Black (and will soon, we presume, have all her objections sustained as a morally well-adjusted but short-tempered superhero attorney), spent $2.1 million on the home. The final price reflects intense competition for the handsome property, which was initially listed for $1.4 million.

Located in the equestrian-enthusiast neighborhood of Shadow Hills, the 1,860 sq. ft. house is a tile-roofed, timber-clad ranch. Rustic to a fault, it begins with a brick entry that reaches an artisanal pinnacle with a decorative wall panel; together with the raw-look wood and lantern sconce, it makes for a cozy preamble.
