After nearly two years on the market, the 15,000 sq. ft. Las Vegas residence of casino billionaire Steve Wynn has gone to a new owner.
The six-bedroom estate has had a long road, and a rather bumpy one; it began its voyage in search of a buyer in July 2020, priced at $25 million, with a price snip in early 2021 dropping its ask to $19.5 million and a hike at the end of the year bumping it back up to $24.5 million. The postmodern villa ultimately changed hands for $17.5 million.
Like Wynn’s Beverly Hills mansion, the home is something of a chilly exercise in atmospherics. In its more theatrical moments it is an off-the-charts design exercise — the arcade hallway and a couple of the ceilings in the home are downright flamboyant, nearly to the point of exhibitionism, and silk, white lacquer, marble, ebony and even the odd mohair wall are among the materials at work in the house. Elsewhere the house is merely flashy, with the kitchen providing a nice example of good old extravagance, or somewhat anxious to convey the relevance of the postmodern Tuscan theme that is at its design foundation. A theater is among the home’s more specialized amenities.
A garage with a three-bay arcade, gardens, a Roman-style pool, and a fountain all contribute to the grounds, which measure in at 1.41 acres. Security’s apparently another major selling point; the listing specifically mention that the property is triple-gated. A pain in the neck for pizza delivery drivers; Wynn probably only did takeout anyway.
Wynn’s net worth is $3.3 billion, per Forbes.
