VistaJet founder Thomas Flohr listed his 15,000 sq. ft. modern in Bel Air for sale recently. The Swiss billionaire hoisted the six-bedroom, ten-bath estate on the open market with an asking price of $63.5 million.
With an exterior dressed up by rusticated limestone blocks and timber accents, the exterior of this two-level 2020-built modern-inspired villa is remarkably visually engaging. The landscaping that surrounds it and gives it context is similarly arresting; on one side of the home, it breaks into a park-like series of plantings and sitting areas, incorporating a pair of fire features and a number of olive trees along the way and forming an exceptional outdoor gathering spot.
The home’s interiors are similarly designed toward the option of entertaining. The kitchen, a nearly monastic space — it’s absolutely shorn of unnecessary ornament or flourish — is large enough to handle food prep for events, but it does feature an auxiliary prep space with over, cooktop, sink and additional counter space.
Beyond the pivoting front door, the living area features the optional glass walls and accent wall with linear fireplace requisite for a build like this. The home’s floating staircase deserves special mention; it’s a sculptural installation that artfully blends blazing white solid balustrades with hardwood treads and handrail.
Upstairs, five bedroom suites are distributed across the second level. The home’s master is the sixth, and it’s a proportionally stunning room with a wood-burning fireplace, corner glass, and retractable glass opening onto a private balcony.
Amenities in this house include an office with a wall of retractable glass, a wet bar and glass wine room, a gym and spa, and a 5,000 sq. ft. rooftop terrace.
Flohr’s net worth is north of $1 billion.
