Kristen Stewart Completes Sale of Malibu Home for $8.3M

For a few months this year, actress Kristen Stewart was poised between two houses: an outgoing midcentury modern in Malibu, and a 1927-vintage Mediterranean Revival in Los Feliz she purchased for $6 million last winter.

The Mediterranean in Los Feliz is the larger of the two, and packed with character-enhancing details like groin vaults, painted tile, and narrow-plank oak to boot. The modern, however, has its own version of engaging to crow about, and this month it beguiled a new owner out of $8.3 million. The house had been listed at $8.5 million by the Twilight series star prior to the sale.

Eccentric, glassy and possessed of a fine interior balance between cool tones and glossy hardwood, the 5,800 sq. ft. house is both modern gem and laid-back Malibu beach pad, a neat trick which was a little bit nostalgic back in 1993 when it went up; the house recalls 1960s L.A. moderns.

The home contains five bedrooms and five baths. Its shared living spaces include an interior common area that’s bordered by glass, including frosted panes, and a kitchen with cabinetry that looks original. Outside, an upper-level deck looks out over the Malibu vista, a serene, saline-tinged view capable of recharging batteries all by itself.

Stewart continues to rack up acclaim for her work. After impressing as Princess Diana in Spencer, she stars in horror film Crimes of the Future, with Viggo Mortensen and Léa Seydoux. The film, which opens in the U.S. tomorrow, premiered in Cannes recently and received a six-minute standing ovation.
