For 2023, Lexus has news regarding the UX: it is now only to be known as the UXh. From the upcoming model year, the automaker’s entry-level crossover will no longer be offered with an ICE-only powertrain. The news isn’t earth shattering, certainly; the only model available now is the UX 250h, and the company has simply deleted the 2.0L I4 powertrain, which delivered 169 horsepower, in favor of a 2.0L I4 with a small rear axle motor that collectively deliver 181 horsepower.
Lexus gave the model a redesign to usher in its new hybrid-specific powertrain and name. While a look at the exterior of the model doesn’t reveal alterations, Lexus has made structural changes beneath the surface that improve the car’s rigidity, but other than that performance improvements are relegated to the F Sport optioning, and include a new Design Package and Handing Package.
Inside the cabin, the changes for the new model year become clearer, and include a much larger touchscreen as an option; in the company’s photo spread on the new UXh, the visual difference is substantial, and extends to a pair of USB ports. Improved steering and the latest version of Lexus’ Safety System+ are also onboard.
The 2023 Lexus UXh will be in dealerships this summer. Pricing TBA.
