Tamara Gustavson, daughter of Public Storage founder B. Wayne Hughes and the company’s major shareholder, listed her dramatic, beautiful and fairly remote estate in Southern California this spring. The billionaire heiress has tagged the Malibu property at $127.5 million.

Occupying a particularly vertigo-inducing rocky Paradise Cove cliff-side bluff, the house’s location gives it panoramic views and extraordinary privacy. A modern Mediterranean-informed villa, it was completed in 2001, and likely custom-built for its current owner. It is supported by a pair of detached guest houses and staff quarters over the garage; overall, there are eight bedrooms and twelve baths on the estate, across 10,698 sq. ft. of interiors.

The home’s living spaces are open, breezy, contemporary and relaxed, with a cottage-style kitchen, hardwood floors, fireplaces, a mix of recessed and chandelier light fixtures, built-in shelving, and a touch of rusticity in the knotty plank floors. Pocketing glass throughout the home opens to a complex of terraces. Amenities include a theater, a fitness, yoga and dance studio, and four bedroom suites, including an owner’s with a fireplace, walk-in closets, and private terrace overlooking the ocean.

The 3.59 acres surrounding the house allow for a languid driveway, and a footpath that winds its way, serpent-like, down the hill to the estate’s 208 feet of beach frontage. A sunken tennis court, lawns, and groomed landscaping complete the scene.

Gustavson’s net worth is $7.7 billion, according to Forbes.
