One of the more technical-looking new watches from Girard-Perregaux is the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition. The timepiece, which is in limited production right now, is brutal-looking homage to drivers Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel and their competitive run later this year.
The mottled look of the case is the result of an unusual blend of materials: titanium power and carbon, with a tinted resin to bring it all together visually. The fact that the titanium and carbon originate from a 2021 season Aston race car gives the watch a uniquely authentic cachet. The dial is a nod to traditionalism in English racing: it’s in British Racing Green. The hands of the watch represent the Aston Martin F1 race car.
As for the mechanical wonders hiding beneath this watch’s masculine exterior, it’s the watchmaker’s GP03300 calibre, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal back. The self-winding chronograph has a power reserve of 46 hours minimum.
Priced at $27,800, the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition will be produced in a run of 306 examples—306 is, by the way, the number of miles expected to be covered by the Aston drivers during the 2022 British Grand Prix.
Girard-Perregaux’s previous collaborative timepieces include the $146,000 Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition.
