Brabus 900 Boosts Mercedes-Maybach GLS to 888 Horsepower

Last December, German tuning firm Brabus introduced their 800-level version of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. It was only a matter of time before the Mercedes specialist announced a truly top-end option, however: a 900-level package for the Bentayga-busting SUV.

The 900-level kits are the most powerful Brabus creates, and in the case of the nearly 6,000-pound leviathan, the 888 horsepower and 774 pound-feet of torque eked out of the engine by way of larger turbos and a special control module pushes it from 0-62 in 4.2 seconds — on its way to a top speed of 199 MPH. A body kit of carbon fiber components and Brabus Monoblock rims help it along, and significantly alters the visuals.

Brabus’ house style tends to the dramatic, so the elegance of the two-tone Maybach treatment has been replaced by a shimmering, glossy coat of jet black paint. Inside, the Brabus 900 Maybach GLS features quilted upholstery in a scalloped pattern, a new twist for the firm, as well as special badging.
