The midcentury modern in Hollywood Hills that actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers put up for sale earlier this spring sold quickly, and above ask. The 1961-built home had been owned by Meyers for a decade and a half when it changed hands in April of this year.
Meyers first tried his luck in March of 2014; when the house reappeared in March this year priced at $1.85 million, his luck changed. The house went under contract inside of two weeks, and ultimate closed at $2.35 million.
The modest two-and-two measures in at just 1,679 sq. ft. From the street, the house looks somewhat forbidding, with architectural concrete walls, a limited amount of glass and a uniform row of eave lights combining into an evocation of industrial impenetrability.
Interiors, however, feel spacious and warm, with heavy use of honey-toned hardwood: floors, closet doors, kitchen cabinetry and paneling, even trim for the steel center beam in the vaulted ceiling. The house also opens generously to a kidney-shaped pool surrounded by tropical landscaping; lots of concrete here, too, but a secluded atmosphere of hidden lushness prevails.
Meyers starts alongside Alec Baldwin in the upcoming 97 Minutes.
