To join our recent look at the U-Boat Worx Nexus, a panoramic-view submersible that can accommodate 9, is a craft that takes passengers to a rather different non-terrestrial medium. Interestingly, its name is borrowed from the handle of the Roman god of the sea.
The startup company involved — called Space Perspective and launched in 2019 — announced their past-stratospheric travel option for the adventurous voyager this spring. The craft is called the Spaceship Neptune Capsule, and it can transport a small group 100,000 feet above the surface of our planet. Yes, a little less than 20 miles. A specially designed balloon does the heavy lifting, aside from the forking over of $125K for the journey, a burden which is a prerequisite for passage.
The Neptune’s interior can be configured for lounge seating, and adjusted to incorporate a meal into the trip. A small bar is on board for those who find 100,000 feet is not quite high enough.
