The late-90s modern of actress Jameela Jamil and producer and musician James Blake came to the open market this year, and departed again in remarkably short order. The four-and-four Hollywood Hills property, positioned on a view-enriched quarter-acre hillside lot in Mount Olympus, was priced at a dollar under $5 million. It is currently in pending status. The couple listed the property in the first week of the month.
The two-level postmodern pad features a façade dressed up with an entry pediment that suggests a stripped-down version of Greek Revival. The home opens auspiciously, via a double front door, to a wide-open living area and a splendid, sculptural take on a floating staircase, with a single arched clerestory overhead. It’s quite possible this first impression of soaring, voluptuous grace represents a fair degree of the apparent buyer’s decision-making, and is responsible for the home’s quickie sojourn on the open market.
As the 4,173 sq. ft. home develops, the common area ceiling emerges as a reprise of the staircase design, and the openness breaks into the backyard pool area by way of a wall of fold-away glass panels. Upstairs, the master bedroom’s own wall of glass opens similarly to the property and the city beyond.
Jamil’s upcoming projects include DC League of Super-Pets, with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Diego Luna, Thomas Middleditch, and Keanu Reeves. On the television side, she stars in Disney+ series She-Hulk, with Mark Ruffalo.
Blake’s latest studio album, Friends That Break Your Heart, was released last year.
