Tiedemann Castle, the extraordinary Greenwood Lake, New York, residence currently owned by retired Yanks legend Derek Jeter, is back on the open market this spring with a price snip. Last March, the property popped up with a listing price of $12.75 million, down considerably from its initial ask of $14.75 million. It is currently listed at $9.5 million.

Something of a personal journey for Jeter, the property was in his family at the beginning of the last century. The baseball star and Miami Marlins co-owner purchased it for restoration purposes in 2003. As it currently stands, the estate is a marvelously eccentric travel-log of stone, timber, period details, nooks and crannies, and meandering outdoor living areas on the shore of Greenwood Lake.

The property’s six bedrooms and ten baths are distributed across 12,590 sq. ft. of interior living space; a main house, a guest house with a lighthouse, and a pool house provide the accommodations. A boat house, gardens, and infinity pool are highlights of the exterior.

Jeter’s recent transactions include the sale of his Tampa Bay home for $22.5 million. He had also rented it out for a time to football hero Tom Brady.
