Philanthropic billionaire Sue Gross purchased a notable Los Angeles-area modern from Ellen DeGeneres about four years ago. Last summer, she listed the home with an asking price of $38 million. No takers emerged, but the relist that followed in February didn’t feature the usual eye-catching, interest-inspiring price snip, either, and the 1966-built house returned to the open market at the same figure.
Fast forward to late last month and the tech-heavy gated .72-acre estate is back, this time with a price snip. The four-bed, six-bath property east of Coldwater Canyon is now asking $32 million.
The home’s exterior architecture culminates in a vaulted roof peak and the glass wall built into it that illuminates the great room overlooking the rear of the property. The motor court is another story; on this side of the home, a pair of walls of slatted hardwood obscures the house itself while suggesting entry by way of a vestibule.
Hardwood, concrete and natural stone are used heavily in the interiors. Highlights among individual spaces include the master bedroom, with its pair of skylights, and the kitchen, where massive planes of dramatically figuredmarble provide counter-to-ceiling backsplashes. Mark Rios designed the property’s exterior living area; it’s designed around a covered patio and a pool.
Gross’ net worth is around $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
