Some of the moderns designed by famous midcentury Los Angeles-area architect Richard Neutra include Case Study House 20, which changed hands in February of 2021, the Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, and the Brice Residence, an early example built for a House & Garden exhibition in the 1930s which is currently in pending status.
Returning to the open market after a brief hiatus is the Loring House; its namesake and first owner was Eugene Loring, a notable ballet dancer and Hollywood choreographer whose credits include Funny Face, which also featured Gershwin Bros. music, and the 1938 ballet Billy the Kid. The home was completed in 1958, and sits on a .65-acre lot.
The full-blooded midcentury-style house is joined on the lot by a Steven Ehrlich-designed two-level modern studio/guest house that features a greenhouse-like wall and partial ceiling in glass panes. Details of the main home include an open-concept living area with a corner fireplace, and glass walls incorporating large sliding panes for patio-and-pool access.
