Ellie Kemper Lists Updated Manhattan Co-op for $3.5M

The Manhattan residence of actress Ellie Kemper is up for sale this spring. The three-and-three unit is located in a building in the borough’s Upper West Side neighborhood.

Kemper — most famous in recent years for her role as liberated subterranean Kimmy Schmidt — has owned the unit since 2016. In fact, the timing of the purchase indicates that it may well have been Ms. Schmidt who figuratively forked over the millions for the keys to the place. Ah, well. She deserved it.

A hop skip and jump from Riverside Park South, the building dates to the middle of the 1910s and features an exterior clad in brick manufactured with a terra-cotta look. It was converted to a co-op residence in the early 1970s.

Kemper’s unit is possessed of a buoyant living style. Interiors are a mix of cool pastels, off-white, and unusually attractive parquet and herringbone oak. A living room fireplace, crown moldings, and the occasional simple ceiling light fixture contribute to an unpretentious but refined feel.

The apartment has a creative workspace slash reading nook, as well; it is outfitted with a cushioned bench seat with lower drawers, a cozy addition. Another highlight in this residence: the kitchen. It’s also a smaller space, but the counter-to-ceiling backsplash — in requisite white subway tile, no less — is a graceful bit of traditional smoke-and-mirrors that brings a sense of spatial largesse to the room.

Kemper’s upcoming films include drama film Happiness for Beginners.
