One of the most capable executive sedans in the world is back for another year of production. The V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S 4-Door will return for the 2023 model year with expanded cosmetic options, performance upgrades, and a few design tweaks.
In the PR marquee, Merc marketing gives technical top billing over visual, and launches into improvements to the GT 63’s suspension and AMG RIDE CONTROL+, designed with a pair of pressure-limiting valves for more acutely adjustable adaptive damping. Customization remains a hot buzzword in the industry, though, especially for the brand and its faithful, and also receiving prominence in the announcement is the expanded rainbow of paint and trim colors, upholstery options, and choices for wheels. MANUFAKTUR options have also been broadened.
The noses of the models have received an individual touch, with the 4-door GT Coupe showing off a smoother fascia with bigger outer intakes. It can also be ordered as an E PERFOMANCE hybrid. The news for the model’s powertrain also includes the return of the eight-cylinder option for 2023 after a supply-chain issue halted production for 2022 cars; the beefy engine gives the GT 63 575 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, and a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds. Those numbers come in at 630, 664, and 3.1 seconds for the GT 63 S.
Pricing and delivery information for the 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S 4-Door will be announced down the road.
