Mercedes-Benz revealed a look at the EQS SUV’s cabin this month. The company hopes that the preview of the plush, refined, technologically dazzling interior will sow anticipation for buyers waiting to have a showroom peek, and they may well have succeeded. The EQS SUV is going to tick many a box on the luxury SUEV tire-kicker’s checklist.

Distinguished from the EQS sedan, the EQS SUV raises the roof and increases the seating, and gives drivers and passengers the elevated perspective that continues to help sell countless examples of the body style. Like others in the Merc EV lineup—EQE, EQB—the EQS SUV will be outfitted with U.S.-made lithium-ion battery packs, and it shares a platform with the EQS sedan.

The interior, too, shares many commonalities with the sedan version of the model. The vaunted and much-discussed Hyperscreen — that 56-inch dash touchscreen complement that dominates the tech experience up front — is optional, but many buyers will queue up for it. Also visible is the laser-etched magnolia wood console trim, a distinctive touch that will appeal to the buyer of a six-figure SUEV.

The standard seating layout of the EQS SUV is five-person, although an additional row adds room for two additional adults. Ah, and for film lovers: the model can be optioned with an Atmos sound system, which will nicely compement passenger-seat content-watching.
