Actor, comedian and writer Marlon Wayans took time out this winter from post-production on Boo! — a Netflix comedy-horror film he both stars in and produces — to spend $5.3 million on a home in Encino. Wayans selected a brand new 5,005 sq. ft. build with five bedrooms and six baths for his new investment.
The home features modern farmhouse architecture. Its exterior is perhaps a touch heavier on the industrial design inspiration than other notable examples we’ve run across lately; its garage looks very much like a factory or warehouse bay. Stone accents dress up the home, adding a rustic dimension, and warming up an entry which would otherwise be more imposing than invitational.
In keeping with the style, this house’s interiors find cohesion in pattern. In this case the pattern is herringbone, and it pops up in floors, backsplashes, and walls. Other details expressing this home’s living style include plank-finished vaulted ceilings, grey scale toning, and matte-finished wide-plank hardwood.
The property packs in a pool and a pool house in back. As currently configured, the pool house is purposed as a spa and exercise room, but could easily be converted to a studio or salon.
