Retired Formula One racer Jenson Button put his period Spanish-style in Palm Springs up for sale on the open market in the middle of January. The property moved into contingent status speedily, and closed this month. The competitive driver fared a bit better than expected on the transaction; the property was listed at $3.5 million, and closed at $3.548 million.

The house is surrounded by a stucco demarcation wall inset with an arched gate for its brick front walk. Its exterior details include a tile roof, wrought iron accents, and lantern sconces. An arched living room window and second-level casements enhance the invitational quality of its first impression.

A carved front door opens to a shared living area finished in off-white. A kiva fireplace and a small amount of hardwood trim act to keep the living style feeling somewhat earthbound, but this is essentially an ethereal atmosphere; even the staircase is an all-white affair.

In the living room, the recreating begins; a wet bar, and a Fleetwood installation that opens to a pergola-covered dining and BBQ area. A partially covered patio and a pool are positioned beyond it. A one-and-one casita picks up the story where the pool leaves off, bringing the property’s accommodations total to four bedrooms and five baths.
