The newest Heritage Edition GT emerged from Ford this month. The Alan Mann Heritage Edition joins previous entries in the series, which include the Gulf Racing Heritage from 2020, the Daytona-inspired 2021 Heritage, and the 2022 variant, which honors the 1964 GT40 racing prototype.

Competitive automotive specialist designer Alan Mann Racing, a U.K. firm that built singular GT40 race cars in the mid-1960s, gets the nod for the 2023 GT Heritage Edition. Recalling the two prototypes produced by AMR in 1966, the 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition is emblazoned with ‘16’, their racing number, on hood, wing and doors.

Like its progenitors, this Heritage Edition is all about a lightweight build. Aluminum was the material of choice in 1966; in contemporary automotive design terms, aluminum is transposed  into carbon fiber, so there’s a great deal of additional carbon fiber beyond the standard GT’s monocoque. Inside the car is more carbon fiber, including seats sheathed in black Alcantara, which contrasts dramatically with the red-and-gold exterior color scheme.

It is possible that this could be the last of the Heritage Editions to come down the pike. 2022 is the final production year for the GT.
