A half-century of an Audemars Piguet landmark, the Royal Oak, is granted attention in the form of a new model: the Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra-Thin. The watch represents the next generation of the enduring model, and also stands as homage to the fifty years of production and popularity.

The numerical designation for the new Royal Oak is 16202, and it replaces the outgoing 15202. Updates to the watch include the new Audemars Piguet Calibre 7121, which represents five years of work, and replaces a calibre that had been in service for fifty years. The movement comes with a 55-hour power reserve.

Throughout the years, the Royal Oak flagship played muse to Audemars Piguet’s more daring creations. They include the $295K Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph Openworked Material Good, the $290K Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph 25th Anniversary, and for the ladies, the $423K Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon, and the $157K Royal Oak Concept Frosted Gold Flying Tourbillon.

The new Royal Oak model will be available in 18K yellow gold, 18K pink gold, and platinum, with green or blue dial. Prices start at $33,200.
