The Hollywood Hills estate of retired Superbike World Championship winner John Kocinski sold at auction this winter, changing hands for $6.5 million, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The sale price of the property represented a fraction of its original asking price of $30 million. That price was set in 2019, shortly after the custom-built house was completed, if listing information is accurate.
The lavish, 7,920 sq. ft. stucco home begins with a gated entrance courtyard; the arched double-door front entrance is decorated with a carved stone surround. Leaded and casement windows, and a Juliet balcony, help define the U-shaped Tuscany-inspired residence.
Interiors are romantic and a little bit ethereal. Dressed in bright white and soft, washed-out blue, they feature plank floors, built-in shelves, fireplaces, wood ceilings, and the soft corners of stucco. A particular treat among the details is the circular staircase.
The four bedrooms and nine baths culminate in a breezy master with a fireplace, a gently vaulted ceiling, and multiple sets of French doors opening to a balcony. Other amenities in this house: a library, and a home theater.
The property’s .31 acres of breathing room is filled out with a patio inset with a zero-edge pool; vine-covered retaining walls provide seclusion. The home’s hillside location generates unusually fine views of the valley below and the city in the distance.
