With a pair of property sales in mild weather climes behind him, legendary MLB shortstop Alex Rodriguez stopped over in chilly Manhattan recently and closed on a pied-a-terre in a legendary New York City residential building.

The outgoing properties include a Malibu beach house Rodriguez and ex Jennifer Lopez took off the hands of Jeremy Piven in 2019 for $6.6 million, and passed on to a new owner about a year and change later for $6.8 million. Then, during the holiday season last year, Rodriguez accepted a $6.3 million offer on a 1962-built cottage in Miami’s Design District.

In A-Rod’s inbox is an Upper West Side co-op; it was priced at $9.95 million before being removed from the market. The three-bedroom corner unit is located on a lower floor of a noted Emory Roth-designed building, The Beresford, which was completed in 1929. The Beresford faces Central Park, and has housed a long list of high-profile figures that includes Meyer Lansky, Glenn Close, Isaac Stern and Mike Nichols.

Numbering among the individual spaces in Rodriguez’s new property is a 500 sq. ft. living room, which features a wood-burning fireplace. The master suite gets most of the attention and much of the floor space as well, though; it measures in at 900 sq. ft., with a pair of bathrooms, a sitting room, and a dressing area in its layout.

Additional spaces in the unit include a powder room and staff quarters.
