Anthony Hsieh is among the newer high-profile homeowners in One Thousand Museum, Miami Beach’s figurehead high-rise residential building and the last U.S. project of influential architect Zaha Hadid. The mortgage billionaire purchased the penthouse unit for $19.5 million.
The eight-figure property is one of a handful in the U.S that Hsieh has closed on in the last couple of years. One of them is in the neighborhood, and also very recent — a mansion on Star Island that Hsieh paid $30 million to acquire. Last summer, the loanDepot founder slapped down $25 million for a stunning 15,000 sq. ft. modern in Las Vegas. In October of 2020, he paid $61 million for a 19,000 sq. ft. contemporary villa on a one-acre slice of Newport Beach, and set a record with the purchase.
What makes the residence in One Thousand Museum unique among Hsieh’s recent acquisitions is the fact that it’s one of two its new owner has put up for rent. The condo, which contains five bedrooms and seven baths across 10,352 sq. ft., is one of Miami’s priciest per-month homes; its landlord wants $130K per month. Offered at $150K per month, Hsieh’s Star Island acquisition asks a bit more from its tenant, but the ground-level views have a different appeal.
The penthouse’s living style is lavish, but understated; modern lines and architect Zaha Hadid’s signature blend of sci-fi riffs and suggestions of biological form. Some of the more arresting details: the staircase, the indoor pool — and of course the jetliner panorama of city and bay.
One Thousand museum’s celebrity residents include David and Victoria Beckham.
Hsieh’s net worth is north of $2 billion.
