A look at the 2022 Lexus LX 600 makes a compelling argument for a $90K outlay. For the current model year, the model is outfitted with a 409-horsepower V6 birturbo which delivers 479 pound-feet of torque, which should be adequate for propelling the flagship gas-burning SUV’s three tons of muscle and luxurious trim…and for off-road forays where 45-degree climbing is necessary.
As always, the contemporary Lexus style is a ‘love it or hate it’ proposition. The overall shape is fairly elegant for such a behemoth, with the rear a cleverly covert expression of brevity.
The automaker has adjusted the grille design, and moved away from attempting to express a horror of the deep in favor of an uncompromising industrial barrier flanked by massive air intakes. That’s empowering to some buyers, so on the cosmetic front the 2022 LX 600’s form may well entice. And the grille design does have purpose: cooling an engine that’s being worked hard.
But this is a luxury car, after all, so let’s not waste too much time before looking at the onboard creature comforts. The model’s cabin is dressed in a substantial layer of cushiness, with seating that recalls a spa-like feel.
For tech updates, the 2022 LX 600 features Lexus Interface, which in this case is displayed via a 7-inch screen and a 12.3-inch screen; cloud-based navigation and voice assistant are included features. For performance, the model’s F Sport trim level includes a specially-tuned adaptive variable suspension and Torsen limited-slip differential. Lexus’ Safety System+ 2.5 is also on board, including Radar Cruise Control, collision warnings, and emergency steering and braking features.
Look for the 2022 Lexus LX 600 in dealerships this winter or early spring. The base trim starts at $88,245, while the top Ultra Luxury trim starts at $127,345.
