Businessman Gildo Pallanca Pastor is the new owner of this downtown Manhattan unit. Pastor, who is the Consul General of Monaco to the United States, paid $8.7 million for the 2,618 sq. ft. unit. The residence is located in a prominent building in the Tribeca neighborhood.

The penthouse unit is one of 152 residences in the condo building. It contains three bedrooms and four baths, a great room with an 11-foot ceiling and  fireplace, and a large kitchen outfitted with Scavolini cabinets and Calacatta Vagli marble countertops, waterfall island, and backsplashes. Floors in the shared spaces are wide-plank white oak in a chevron pattern.

The unit’s bedrooms are artfully positioned for maximum privacy, and include a master with a pair of walk-in closets and a large bath with Calacatta Mandria marble floors and walls. The other two bedrooms are en-suite.

The unit’s outdoor living space is distributed across two terrace levels. The exterior living space adds 1,072 sq. ft. to the unit’s total living area.

The Italian Renaissance Revival-style building dates to 1899. It served an insurance company before being acquired by the city. It was repurposed as a residential building beginning in the latter part of the last decade, and restored in keeping with its architecture. Its amenities include 20,000 sq. ft. of wellness and entertainment facilities.

Pastor’s net worth is reportedly north of $1 billion.
