In selecting the 2022 M5 CS — that is, ‘Competition Sport’ — as its latest platform, German BMW tuning specialist G-Power had fertile ground to work with.
The M5 CS, a limited-run M5 iteration for the new model year that promises to be a top seller in its class; compared to the M5, it features a bevy of carbon-fiber parts—including a new hood—as well as sport seats, and gets 627 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque out of its 4.4L V8. It can launch to 60 MPH in 2.6 seconds.
G-Power’s most forceful contribution to the top-dog 5-Series BMW marks a considerable departure from the capable stock M5 CS. G-Power calls it the GP-900 package, and its components and changes give the model 887 horsepower and 774 pound-feet of torque to work with; changes include new turbochargers, G-Power’s ‘Deeptone’ sport exhaust system, and the firm’s downpipes.
G-Power offers four additional tuning packages for the M5 CS: in descending order of price, they are the GP-820, GP-780, GP-740, and the entry-level GP-700; metric horsepower ratings correspond to the package number. For equipment, the GP-700 includes software alterations, while the GP-740 adds the Deeptone system and the GP-780 adds the pipes. Additional components available include forged rims and a rear wing.
