Luxury car customizations tailored for geographically or culturally specific marketplaces have become a regular occurrence in the global car industry. These special editions come with cosmetics and feature sets that are uniquely oriented to their target buyers.
The Middle East has seen a few, including the Bentley Bentayga designed for falconry enthusiasts. Daimler’s Maybach division, a darling in China that is rapidly gaining traction in the region, accorded special attention to the UAE specifically last year by unveiling its top-tier S680 4MATIC in Dubai. And to close out 2021, German tuner Mansory has gotten in on the action by sending a gift just for the City of Gold: a ‘Special UAE’ Rolls-Royce Cullinan that’s a figurehead for the company’s newly opened Dubai showroom.
The Rolls SUV has of course been customized to appeal to affluent Dubaians. The hood and the components added to this Cullinan by Mansory — including fender extensions, bumper with splitter, skirts, fins, diffuser, and spoiler — have been given a mottled or speckled finish that resembles burled wood or natural stone, but looks steelier.
The speckled finish is used for cabin accents and interior trim as well, in addition to door panels finished with upholstery in a wave-like pattern that suggests the philosophical motif of desert/ocean. The headliner sports a silhouette of the UAE map. And the ‘Special UAE’ Cullinan receives a boost to 610 horsepower, up from the production version rating of 563.
