Kirk Douglas’ Beverly Hills Home Flies Off the Market for Above-Ask $9M

The Beverly Hills haunt of Hollywood movie legend Kirk Douglas sold in mighty short order. The property, which Douglas and his wife Anne had occupied for about thirty years, appeared on the open market barely a month ago, asking $7.495 million. It was snapped up in no time, presumably by a fan of the actor, the home, or both; the final price of $9.015 million indicates that something—perhaps the home’s pedigree—must have made a strong impression.

The four-bedroom home is located in the Flats neighborhood, where it sits on a lot measuring a little less than four-tenths of an acre. The grounds are occupied by a pool with a pebble-crete surround and patio, as well as a small pool house, a little brick courtyard, and a garden with concrete tiles signed by some of the more famous figures of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

The house itself is fairly modest, a 1921-built rambler with architectural details that faintly whisper regency. Details include original narrow-plank oak floors, French doors, rusticated built-ins, and skylights. There are four bedrooms in the home, but the pool house is a two-story structure that adds another bedroom and two additional baths to the property total.
