The property, which Douglas and his wife Anne had occupied for about thirty years, appeared on the open market barely a month ago, asking $7.495 million. It was snapped up in no time, presumably by a fan of the actor, the home, or both; the final price of $9.015 million indicates that something—perhaps the home’s pedigree—must have made a strong impression.

The four-bedroom home is located in the Flats neighborhood, where it sits on a lot measuring a little less than four-tenths of an acre. The grounds are occupied by a pool with a pebble-crete surround and patio, as well as a small pool house, a little brick courtyard, and a garden with concrete tiles signed by some of the more famous figures of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

The house itself is fairly modest, a 1921-built rambler with architectural details that faintly whisper regency. Details include original narrow-plank oak floors, French doors, rusticated built-ins, and skylights. There are four bedrooms in the home, but the pool house is a two-story structure that adds another bedroom and two additional baths to the property total.
