New Zealand-born actor KJ Apa has acquired into a charming mid-1960s Spanish Revival in Hollywood Hills. The ‘Riverdale’ cast member dropped $2.49 million on the three-bedroom, three-bath home, according to public records — although, as Dirt has reported, the sale took place about a year ago.
The house warrants a look even if the story isn’t timely. Thoroughbred Spanish-style homes had become quite rare by the mid-1960s, but this one carries the spirit of the tween-war heyday of the style without devolving into rote sentimentality. The façade is enhanced by a stucco landscaping wall, a tiled fountain and an outdoor brick-and-tile staircase. An upper balcony and a roof deck can be spotted.
Inside the home, details include exposed ceiling beams, wood-framed windows, stucco, and glossy plank oak. The living room gets a whopping great transition enhancement by way of a recessed design and an accent wall of a pair of arched portals, one of which soars gracefully over entry.
In the kitchen and family room, a set of wood-framed sliding glass doors opens to the outdoor living area, a brick courtyard with a pool as a centerpiece and retaining walls for demarcation and privacy. Overhead, an upper-level balcony overlooks this very warm and extremely inviting primary living area.
